Elizabeth Collins LPC (See my Psychology Today Profile HERE)
Elizabeth is an experienced mental and emotional health counselor specializing in OCD, panic disorder, phobias and anxiety as well as trauma, PTSD and CPTSD.
For OCD Elizabeth uses a Brainspotting set up specifically designed for OCD and inspired by the work of Dr. Jeffrey M. Schwartz as laid out in his book BRAIN LOCK.
For other issues Elizabeth uses a hybrid mix of Brainspotting, and IFS to reprocess and release traumatic impulses trapped in the body. When appropriate EMDR is used to resolve specific intrusive memories. Following the work, clients report significant decreases or complete freedom from identified symptoms and maladaptive coping strategies including the repetitive thoughts and behaviors of OCD; they report restored self confidence and freedom to participate in previously avoided social and work opportunities.
For clients who wish to continue working even after achieving their initially identified goals, our work shifts to more traditional forms of talk therapy and CBT. CBT process includes the development of effective communication, active listening, the steps to making effective requests and complaints, SMART goals, and creative problem solving.
